Neighbors helping neighbors

Service room at Dillard Memorial Funeral HomeAs a locally operated funeral home and memorial park in Pickens, it's our responsibility and honor to support our community. We host community and holiday events throughout the year, beginning with an Easter sunrise service. In honor of Memorial Day, we place American flags on the graves of our veterans as well as recognize veterans on Veterans Day. During the holidays each year we hold a candlelight ceremony and decorate live trees in each mausoleum with ornaments decorated by families. We also host an annual service of remembrance.

In addition, we sponsor the Pickens County Widowed Persons Organization, which provides an opportunity for widows and widowers to come together and make new friends. WPO gatherings include going to restaurants and entertainment outings. The group is open to the whole community; contact us at 864-878-6371 to be included in future mailings.

History

Cemetery grounds at Hillcrest Memorial ParkDillard Funeral Home was established as Clayton-Dillard Funeral Home in 1933 by F. Van Clayton and J. Austin Dillard. In 1962, the Dillard family became the sole owners of the funeral home and renamed it Dillard Funeral Home.

At that time, Austin's son Jim joined the family business. In the early 1970s, the funeral home moved from its original Pendleton Street location to North Catherine Street, and in 1987, Jim's daughter, Ginger Dillard Selby, became part of the funeral home team.

Dillard relocated again in 1991, this time to 2402 Gentry Memorial Highway, adjacent to Hillcrest Memorial Park, where you can conveniently plan all your final arrangements.

Today, Dillard Funeral Home and Hillcrest Memorial Park are members of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers.
